Dear Friends of the EFEPA:
Remember when you were young and struggling with your future? Think about those challenges and the decisions you had to make. You no longer had to do what your parents said; you were ready to follow your own dreams. You could choose to go to college, to go into the workplace, to follow your significant other across the country or to take a break from school and experience the world. It was a tough decision, but it was yours. It was your chance to follow your life aspirations and be independent.
Now, add a neurological disorder, like epilepsy/seizure disorder, to the mix. Can you dream the same dreams? Perhaps, depending on the severity of the disorder and how well prepared you are to deal with the issues of disclosure or the ignorance and myths the general public has of epilepsy and its complications.
As part of a comprehensive transition program, we will establish a Young Adult Retreat with programs to address self-esteem, issues of the work place, disclosure, realistic expectations, and changing negatives to positives– of course we want to have some fun too! The Epilepsy Foundation needs to be the bridge to a productive and rewarding life experience. We hope with this program, we can do just that… but not without your help.
In the time of a recession, progress is lagging and the need is great, and it is now. We are looking to you and your efforts to help us meet the needs of our youth. We have seen what our programs can do, and hopefully you have too.
Your donation will help support new young adult initiatives as well as established programs that serve those with epilepsy/seizure disorder and their families. Please continue to make the dreams of so many, a reality.
Sincerely,
Jeanette Chelius Mark Rosenberg
Executive Director Board President
