Camp Achieve was a huge success! We had 33 campers, 19 who were new to us. No rain, no humidity, perfect weather. We promised sunshine this year, and we got it! We enjoyed games of volleyball, basketball, kickball, Frisbee golf and gaga (never too much gaga!). Campers had a tennis clinic and a golf clinic.
The campers had the opportunity to climb the climbing wall, some made it to the top, but all made good efforts in their climbs. They made personal pizzas with one of the counselors and designed their own t-shirts in one of their arts and crafts sessions.
Entertainment was endless with Dr. Yo Yo teaching yoyo tricks, Mighty Mike Simmel from the Harlem Wizards fascinated them with basketball wizardry. Then we toned it down a little and relaxed with some yoga.
Bingo couldn’t be more fun (who knew?!)! They even played “Epilepsy Bingo”, created by Mary Loughlin, EFEPA Wyoming Valley Resource Coordinator.
Crazy hat day was just that...CRAZY! And as always, we all enjoyed “Everybody’s Birthday” Party on the last night. We do like a party…and cake!!
We held our 3rd annual Talent Show and the talent was as exciting as the support and enthusiasm that the kids offered each other. The band, “The Highly Anticipated” opened the show, accompanied some of the acts and closed the show with plenty of songs and audience participation.
